The RESC
in Chilaw is started to cater two education zones in Puttalam District.
Those are Puttalam and Chilaw. At the beginning it was at St/Mary’s College,
then shifted to Bishop Edmund Pieris College and Presently it is in the
Zonal Education Office in Chilaw.

This began with four resource persons as Coordinator, Teacher In charge and two
teacher assistants. Now there are two (teacher in charge and a teacher
assistant) and all others went on their retirements in timely manner.

We are conducting workshops for teachers of
English, and programmes for other subject teachers.
·
We are monitoring ‘English as a Lifeskill’
programme and conducting TKT programme.
·
We are preparing sample question papers for students
those who are going to sit for O/L and A/L examinations.
·
We are trained and monitored by the National
Institute of Education and equipments and books are given by the Room to Read
as well as the British Council.
·
Recently we participated the Hornby workshop and
the 7th slelta conference in Colombo.
